Authorities: Man, 25, Dies While Swimming In Elk Lake

WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Authorities say the body of a 25-year-old man who reportedly jumped from a boat to swim in Michigan's northern Lower Peninsula has been recovered.

The Grand Traverse County sheriff's department says the body of Jamil Marek Cooper of Traverse City was found by a dive team on Sunday in Elk Lake after he was reported missing Saturday evening.

Three people on the boat near a launch site in Whitewater Township were unable to reach the man. An investigation into the death is ongoing.
