NEW YORK (AP) — Comments on the Detroit Lions by the AP Pro32 panel (ranking in parentheses):
___
DETROIT LIONS (13)
Chris Berman (ESPN, 13) — Won't be alone losing at Candlestick.
Clifton Brown (Sporting News, 10) — With Titans and Vikings up next, the Lions need to take advantage and go 3-1.
Cris Collinsworth (NBC Sports, 18) — Need Chris Houston and Louis Delmas to get healthy.
Rich Gannon (CBS Sports/SiriusXM NFL Radio, 15) — They better develop a running game soon.
Bob Glauber (Newsday, 18) — After barely getting past the Rams at home in the opener, Lions no match for powerhouse 49ers on the road.
Rick Gosselin (Dallas Morning News, 13) — QB Matthew Stafford needs help and it could be on the way with the return of RB Mikel Leshoure this week from a two-game suspension.
Clark Judge (CBSSports.com, 11) — When does a loss push somebody up in the polls? When it's a close game vs. San Francisco. I was impressed how resilient Detroit was vs. the 49ers. OK, so they didn't win. They hung tough and didn't go away.
Ira Kaufman (Tampa Tribune, 19) — Last year's 5-0 start is but a fading memory.
Pat Kirwan (SiriusXM NFL Radio/CBSSports.com, 15) — Too many injuries in the secondary to move up right now, but when they get people back they will go right to the top 10.
John Lynch (Fox Sports, 11) — They were beaten, but by the class of the league right now in the 49ers.
Alex Marvez (Foxsports.com, 14) — The Lions have held the lead for only 8:08 in their first two games. That should change Sunday at Tennessee even with injuries continuing to mount in Detroit's secondary.
Dan Pompei (Chicago Tribune, 15) — This is a team that has not found its rhythm. When will it?
