AL Central Title Flag To Be Raised
DETROIT - The Detroit Tigers begin their 13th season at Comerica Park and their 112th year in Detroit this Thursday at 1:05 p.m. as the Tigers host the Boston Red Sox. Gates open at 10:30 a.m.
OPENING DAY PRE-GAME LINE-UP WILL FEATURE:
- 2011 American League Central Division Champions Flag Raising
- On-field introduction of the Red Sox and Tigers
- The national anthem performed by American Idol finalist, Haley Reinhart
- A military flyover showcasing 107th Fighter Squadron "Red Devils" flying the A-10C Warthog from Selfridge Air National Guard Base, MI
- Staff Sergeant Matthew Marentette of the United States Air Force will deliver the game ball prior to the start of the game
- Hall of Famer Al Kaline, celebrating the beginning of his sixth decade with the Tigers, will throw the first pitch
HOMESTAND HIGHLIGHTS: The six-game Tigers homestand features the Boston Red Sox (April 5-8) and the Tampa Bay Rays (April 10-12). First pitch for Saturday, April 7 is 4:05 p.m. First pitch for the remaining four games of the homestand is 1:05 p.m. The Opening Day giveaway will be a Justin Verlander 2nd no-hitter DVD for the first 20,000 fans courtesy of FOX Sports Detroit. On Saturday, April 7 the first 10,000 fans will receive a 2012 Magnet Schedule courtesy of Comerica Bank. Sunday, April 8 is Kids Opening Day with all kids 14-and-younger receiving an "Every Kid, Every Sunday" Building Block Calendar, compliments of Little Caesars.
