13-Year-Old Girl Crashes Car Into Tree

TROY (WWJ) - Troy police say a 13-year old girl was at a wheel of a car that smashed into a tree, injuring four people.

It happened shortly after school let out last Tuesday.

Police said a 17-year old passenger admitted to borrowing the car while a friend was sleeping, and allowing the 13-year-old to "practice" driving.

When police arrived they found four teen girls by the car -- the front windshield smashed and the airbags deployed. The four girls suffered only bumps and bruises.

The 13-year-old, a Troy resident, was ticketed for driving without a license. The 17-year old, a Warren resident, was ticketed for allowing the unlicensed girl to drive.
