Wealthy financier Jeffrey Epstein is facing a judge in New York as his lawyers push for house arrest during a bail hearing. Epstein is charged with child sex trafficking for allegedly abusing dozens of girls. CBS News chief legal analyst Rikki Klieman joins CBSN with the latest on the case.
The Jeffrey Epstein case has brought new attention to sex trafficking victims and how abusers can evade police and the court system. Elizabeth Melendez Fisher is the CEO and co-founder of Selah Freedom, a non-profit that works with law enforcement and the court system to help victims of sex trafficking. She joined CBSN AM to discuss her work in Sarasota, Florida, including re-training officers to spot victims.
Prosecutors in Massachusetts dropped a charge of indecent assault against actor Kevin Spacey. This comes after Spacey's alleged victim refused to testify. The man's family say they're very disappointed with the prosecutors' decision. Jericka Duncan reports.
At least 23 people are confirmed or presumed dead after a fire at a TV studio in Japan. Flames broke out inside the three-story building in Kyoto overnight, and nearly 40 people were hurt. Rescue crews are searching for people who are missing. Investigators are treating the fire as arson, and police say one man has been taken into custody for questioning.
