Wildfire Burning Near Mancos, Colorado

MANCOS, Colo. (CBS4)- A wildfire was burning near Mancos, Colorado Friday evening. The town is in the southwestern portion of the state.

The fire started at about 4:30 p.m. Friday. It had grown to 100 acres by 6 p.m. and was crowning in trees. The fire was being fueled by brush and pinon juniper.

The fire was burning five miles south of the town of Mancos. There are 10 structures threatened but no evacuations ordered.

One helicopter and two Single Engine Air Tankers are attacking the fire by air. One helitanker is traveling to the fire from Grand Junction.

Winds are gusty out of the southwest.
