Truck Jumps Embankment, Narrowly Avoids Falling Into River
DENVER (CBS4) - A truck barely missed tumbling off an embankment on Interstate 25 south of 6th Avenue Monday morning.
At 6:30 a.m., a pickup truck on the right shoulder of southbound I-25 near Alameda Avenue was seen dangling from the embankment and over the South Platte River.
The driver had a back injury but was able to make it out of the vehicle. A tree was perfectly positioned to stop the truck from plunging into the South Platte River.
Traffic on southbound I-25 slowed, and even stalled onto 6th Avenue. Two right lanes were closed for several hours as the scene was cleared.
Lanes were reopened and crews had left by 10:30 a.m.
