Police say Trevor Woodruff shot three people in the parking lot, killing one of them. The 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office filed charges of first degree murder, two counts of attempted first degree murder, two counts of first degree assault and crime of violence which serves as a sentence enhancer.

Police say the victim who died was 19-year-old Javier Garcia. The other two victims are described as a juvenile male and an 18-year-old woman. Police say one of the victims knew the suspect, and a family member of Woodruff called police.

An arrest affidavit states Woodruff was meeting Garcia for "a buy." Police say that victim was dating the woman and had some unknown relationship to the juvenile male.

Documents state Woodruff got inside Garcia's car armed with a handgun. The woman told police she was on her phone during the time and described the two men having a "guy conversation."

For some reason, Woodruff began firing, police say, and the woman opened the door to get out. That's when she says Woodruff shot her.

Police say they had numerous contacts with Woodruff prior to the shooting. Friends of his told police he was known to sell and buy guns. One friend reportedly asked him to stop and offered to help pay his bills.

Investigators say shortly after the shooting, Woodruff spoke with officers who later convinced himself to surrender. He told them he feared for his life and the shooting was in self-defense.

Police say the gun recovered was not reported stolen.

Woodruff is expected in court on Dec. 10.
