Siemian Has 'No Hard Feelings' About Osweiler's Absence

CENTENNIAL, Colo. (CBS4) - The Broncos have moved on to life after Brock Osweiler, but the former Denver quarterback drew the ire of some fans after skipping the team's trip to the White House last week.

Osweiler was also not present for Sunday night's private Super Bowl 50 ring ceremony with his teammates.

While some dislike Osweiler's decision to stay in Houston -- where he is still learning the Texans playbook -- current Broncos quarterback Trevor Siemian says he understands Osweiler's reasons.

"In our locker room at least, there's no hard feelings for Brock. He was a great teammate, great friend. I still keep in touch with him. So you always want to see guys do well and succeed and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does this year," Siemian said on Xfinity Monday Live. "He spoke with a couple of us and he kind of told us he's in the middle of OTAs and he's trying to get comfortable down there so I didn't blame him."

Siemian is in the midst of a three-way competition to be the Broncos starting quarterback. Rookie Paxton Lynch was the Broncos first-round draft pick and veteran Mark Sanchez was signed in the offseason, but Siemian has a year of experience in coach Gary Kubiak's system.

He said he's trying to gain "complete mastery of the playbook."

"I think that's something I felt good about towards the end of (2015 training camp) but then I go on ice so to speak for the season and I'm sitting on the bench. So that's what the spring has been great for is getting a feel for everything," Siemian said.
