Man Accused Of Raping Tinder Date

DENVER (CBS4) - A Denver man has been charged with sexual assault after allegedly raping a woman he met on a mobile phone app.

Police said Brett Sisman, 31, met the woman on Tinder, a dating app known in some circles as a way for people to "hook up."

According to police, Sisman met a woman at a bar in LoDo for drinks after numerous phone calls and texts. The two later went to the Brown Palace where the woman told police she became woozy and suspected a drink she had there might have been drugged.

The victim told investigators she accepted an invitation to go to Sisman's residence in a southeast Denver apartment complex where she says the man forced himself on her.

Lynn Kimbrough, a spokesperson for the Denver District Attorney's Office, says the arrest affidavit indicates the woman told the man she did not want to have sex.

"It was not consensual in any way, that as soon as she able to leave she was able to report it to police," Kimbrough said.

Sisman is now charged with sexual assault after the woman claimed he said, "I'm not asking you, I am telling you (to comply)," and then bit her.

Kimbrough says the victim had used caution by exchanging messages and phone calls ahead of time.

"She thought she had gotten to know this person. She felt safe at that moment, accepting an invitation when she didn't feel well to go to his place," Kimbrough said. "Unfortunately the allegation is that he took advantage of that."

Kimbrough says such cases are not common, but last year Darren Auger was arrested in a similar incident. He met a 22-year-old woman on Tinder. Court documents indicate they went for sushi and walked dogs in a park before the man forced himself on her.

Auger has since pleaded guilty to lesser charges than originally filed against him.
