Thunderstorms Bring Heavy Rain, Hail, Flooding To Metro Area

DENVER (CBS4)- Thunderstorms brought heavy rain, hail and flooding to the Denver metro area on Thursday evening.

In Aurora there was street flooding reported at several intersections including Alameda and Havana. There were several vehicles stranded in that intersection while drivers tried to make their way through.

Pea-sized hail was also reported in that area.

In Thornton residents had hail and street flooding after a major downpour.

Lightning was also reported across the Denver metro area but there weren't any reports of injuries or major damage.

A flash flood warning was in effect in Denver, Arapahoe County and Douglas County until 10:30 p.m. Thursday.

On Wednesday, nearly 2 inches of rain fell in about four hours in Pueblo, closing portions of Interstate 25. A stretch of U.S. 50 west of Rocky Ford was also temporarily closed due to heavy rain and flooding.
