Teen Accused Of Stabbing Older Brother Over Going To Church
LONGMONT, Colo. (CBS4) – Police in Longmont have located a 15-year-old boy who allegedly stabbed his older brother in a fight outside Faith Baptist Church.
Investigators think the fight broke out because one of the brothers didn't want to go to church.
The older brother, 17, was stabbed twice but is expected to survive.
Approximately 150 people had just wrapped up their Sunday evening services at the church located on 15th Avenue when the stabbing occurred. When they entered the parking lot some rushed to help the victim while others began praying.
Police said a legal pocket knife was used in the stabbing.
The younger brother returned home Monday morning and surrendered to police. He's being held at the Boulder County Juvenile Detention.
The church's assistant pastor, Kip Doan, told CBS4 both boys attended church and their family has been long time members.
"We appreciate their family very much," Doan said. "Our church is very close to them, so we love them and we hurt for them and we are praying for them as part of our church family."
Police charged the juvenile with assault.
