Suspect In Officer Shooting Formally Charged

DENVER (CBS4)- The man accused of shooting and seriously wounding a Denver police officer earlier this month has been charged with attempted first-degree murder.

Denver Police Officer Tony Lopez Jr. was injured when he pulled over a vehicle during a routine traffic stop near the intersection of North Federal Boulevard and West Clyde Place last Tuesday. Police say the driver started firing at Lopez, seriously injuring him.

One suspect, Jason Wood, has been arrested after a short chase following the shooting and another person of interest, Melinda Espinoza, turned herself into police.
