Survivor Shares Courageous Story About Human Trafficking
DENVER (CBS4)- Thursday marked the fourth annual Human Trafficking Awareness Day at the state Capitol.
The commercial sex industry brings an estimated profit of $60 million per year in Denver.
Sharee, a sex trafficking survivor, was rescued from a hotel on Colfax Avenue in 2012 when she was only 16 years old.
"There are children walking down the street right now praying that either an officer or a john that stops them, a john means they're one step closer to being done for the night, a police officer means they're safe," said Sharee.
Sharee said it's important for everyone to know the signs of human trafficking because just one phone call to authorities can save a teenager.
