Students And Parents Rally To Save A Popular Teacher
DENVER (CBS4)- Parents and students at Steck Elementary School are rallying to save a life of a popular teacher.
Andrew Menard is an award-winning 4th Grade teacher. He's also fighting kidney disease.
The Steck community has launched the "Kids 4 Kidneys" campaign. They hope to find a donor and drum up some money to help cover Menard's medical costs.
"It's hard, you know. My dad has PKD so, I watched him on dialysis for 15 years and I just watched him slowly disintegrate and he had some serious complications toward that end of that time. So knowing what we know now that he didn't know then, we're going to try to change the future and have a different outcome," said Menard.
Students, parents and teachers compiled a video for their campaign. They're also close to launching a website to raise money.
