Son Charged In Attack On Elderly Parents

DENVER (CBS4)- A Denver man has been charged in connection with an attack on his elderly mother and father.

Clifford Garel, 62, is charged with criminal attempt to commit murder in the first degree, second degree assault on an at-risk adult and third degree assault on an at-risk adult.

The charges allege that over several days in July, Garel assaulted his 84-year-old mother and 83-year-old father, did not allow them to leave their bedroom and withheld food and medication at their southeast Denver home.

Garel remains in custody on $100,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court July 13 for his second advisement.
