DENVER (AP) -- Democratic U.S. Rep. Jared Polis is participating in an immigration rally as part of a nationwide effort to ask for a change in the country's deportation policies.

Polis is rallying with Colorado activists, state residents and Democratic Illinois U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez in a northeast Denver neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

Gutierrez is hosting similar rallies Sunday in Seattle and in Woodburn, Ore., on Monday. A final rally is planned on Chicago on Thursday.

Polis spokesman Chris Fitzgerald says rally participants can sign a petition asking President Barack Obama to change deportation policies in the U.S.
