Police Not Revealing Much About Homicide On Dennison Court
DENVER (CBS4)- Police in Denver investigated a homicide on Wednesday morning and collected evidence from inside a home, but haven't revealed many details about the investigation.
Officers went to a home in the 2500 block of S. Dennison Court late Tuesday night where they found an adult who was deceased. Police have not said who the victim is but neighbors fear it may be the woman who lived there.
Hours before Denver investigators arrived to collect evidence from the woman's home, neighbor Kari Palmer got an interesting call.
"Her daughter from New York called us to see if we had seen any emergency vehicles over there or anything because she'd been trying her all day," Palmer said.
It was about 8 p.m. Tuesday when she got the call, but no emergency responders were there at the time. The woman on the other end of the phone told Palmer she sent a relative to the house to check on her mom.
"The aunt had gone through the house, her purse was there, the lights were on, her car was in the garage," Palmer said.
But the woman in her 80s who lives alone in the home was nowhere to be found.
Palmer said she too went to check on her neighbor, who ordinarily lives a very quiet life.
"My sister and I went over and knocked on the windows and stuff and saw the lights on," she said.
"My sister and I went over and just knocked on the windows and stuff and tried to call her name and we saw the lights on and stuff but then I went to the next door neighbor and they said they saw the cleaning lady go in earlier yesterday. I didn't get a time or anything so I called her daughter in New York and know that she said she had some phone numbers and would call," said Palmer.
Palmer also said the back door to the home was often left unlocked. She noticed it was open on Tuesday night when she went to check on the woman and peeked through, but didn't see anything out of the ordinary.
Officers arrived not long after and declared the house the scene of a homicide. They collected evidence from inside the home as well as an open garage where a sedan was parked. The trunk was open on the vehicle.
It is still not clear who the victim is.
