Police in Colorado investigate potential homicide after young woman found dead on sidewalk

Police in Commerce City investigated a potential homicide early Thursday morning after a young woman was found dead on the sidewalk with apparent head trauma. 

According to investigators, a passerby discovered the woman in the 6200 block of Glencoe Street about 4:30 a.m. Initially, investigators said the discovery was being investigated as a suspicious death before determining it was a potential homicide investigation. 

No identifying information about the female has been released. 

Officers have cordoned off the area and are asking residents to avoid the area during the investigation.
