Police Catch Suspects After SUV Crashes Into Home
AURORA, Colo. (CBS4)- All three suspects inside a stolen SUV that crashed into a home in Aurora ran away from the scene, taking police on a chase through the neighborhood on Thursday.
It started just after 4 p.m. when police spotted the stolen SUV on Havana and Colfax before it crashed into a home two blocks away, at 13th and Havana near Havana Park.
The crash knocked the front of the home off its foundation.
That's when three people inside the vehicle took off and started running from police.
Copter4 flew over the area as one of the suspects tried to get away.
Police chased the man and arrested him after he jumped over one fence and then another fence after a K-9 officer got close.
Officers also were able to capture the other two occupants of the vehicle.
The Honda SUV was stolen out of Aurora a few days ago. Officers also recovered two guns from the vehicle.
The suspects face a host of felony charges. Their identities have not been released.
Three girls were in the basement of the home when the car crashed into it. The youngest is 3.
"They say they heard a big crash and they went to the room on the corner and saw the bump, and they came outside and saw this (commotion)," said homeowner Aida Ortega.
Ortega returned home to find the car crashed into the front of her home. She said her family and her renters will have to find somewhere else to stay for a while.
The SUV had been removed by Friday morning but crime scene tape still surrounded the home and tire tracks were visible in the grass leading up to the damaged house.
