AURORA, Colo. (CBS4) - The early results are in, and it appears the first baby born in the Denver metro area in 2016 was born at Children's Hospital Colorado in Aurora.
Ten minutes after the clock struck midnight (Mountain Time), Jaxton Kitchin was born. He weighed 5 pounds and 4 ounces and is 17 1/2 inches long.
His parents, Shawna and Craig Kitchin, are from Colorado Springs.
The hospital released photos of the baby and a statement from Shawna saying thanks to "nurses in the Colorado Fetal Care Center and to all the staff at Children's Hospital Colorado."
"We are happy and excited to see what's next," Shawna said.
Hospital officials said the family is doing well.
