Mid-Week Moisture Maker Chips Away At Drought
The big thunderstorms of Wednesday were wonderful moisture makers.
The Denver rain total from Tuesday and Wednesday this week was more that the city received in June, July and August combined!
The rain gauge at Denver International Airport recorded a total of 1.95 inches on Tuesday and Wednesday. The combined total of rain for June , July, and August was 1.81 inches.
Denver also set a record daily maximum for rainfall on Wednesday with a 24 hour total of 1.41 inches. The old record was .71 inches set in 1908.
The rain of this week will go a long way in getting the Front Range back on track for moisture. Before this week's rainfall Denver's precipitation total for the year was at 6.40 inches. That's just under 6 inches below normal for the year.

After the mid-week storm the new total for the year so far is 8.35 inches. That's 3.87 inches below normal.
That means we are still in a drought. But, things are slowly getting better.
