Man Survives Bear Attack While Scouting For Hunting Trip
PARK COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Colorado Parks and Wildlife officials say a bear attacked a hunter near Red Hill in Park County Friday evening.
The attack happened at approximately 5 p.m after the man scouted the area for an upcoming hunting trip.
Officials say the bear knocked the man to the ground but the hunter managed to escape. He suffered scratches but is expected to be okay.
"Thankfully, the injuries were not severe," Northeast Regional Manager Mark Leslie said in a statement. "This looks like a chance encounter where the bear was likely startled."
Wildlife officers say once the bear is captured it will be euthanized and checked for rabies or other abnormalities.
