Man Accused Of Stealing Police Car Appears Before Judge
DENVER (CBS4)- The man accused of running away from a hit-and-run and then stealing an unmarked police cruiser and then leading police on a chase appeared in court on Thursday.
Police arrested Ravi Anthony Guerrero on Tuesday night. Guerrero, 38, faces several charges including investigation of motor vehicle aggravated theft, second-degree assault and menacing with a deadly weapon.
It all started Aug. 28 when police responded to the scene of a hit-and-run near Dakota and Clay. When an officer got out of his vehicle to investigate, the suspect, now identified as Guerrero, jumped in and started driving.
A witness captured an image of the man police were looking for as he was running from the first hit-and-run scene. That man was later identified by police as Guerrero.
The suspect drove away in the police cruiser and crashed three times before he ran away from officers.
Police did not provide details about how they captured Guerrero.
