Stolen Minivan Crashes Through Entrance, Ends Up Inside Restaurant In Littleton
LITTLETON, Colo. (CBS4)- A minivan crashed into a bar and ended up in the restaurant in Littleton on Monday morning. The vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen, was found abandoned inside the Boardroom Bar & Restaurant after thieves targeted the ATM for cash.
South Metro firefighters rushed to the scene where the vehicle had smashed through an outside wall and came to a stop inside.
That's when two people wearing hoodies ran inside behind the minivan and went straight for the ATM, as seen on surveillance video.
"It appears that they do know there was some money in that register. I have four registers and that was the only one with money," said Boardroom owner Alex Woods.
When that didn't work, a truck backs into the ATM and two people went for the cash while a third person may have served as getaway driver for the pickup which was last seen traveling south on Broadway.
Crews with South Metro Fire were trying to stabilize the structure after the crash.
"I don't think you can do this by accident. It would be hard to drive into this building by accident," said one Boardroom employee's mother Cathy Maccarato.
