Lawrence Street Community Center Will Be New Refuge For Denver's Homeless
DENVER (CBS4) - Denver city officials celebrated the groundbreaking of the Lawrence Street Community Center on Tuesday.
The future home of the center is right next to the Denver Rescue Mission and will be a new refuge for Denver's homeless.
The center will provide access to drinking fountains, bathrooms and showers. There's also a dining area for daily meals.
"It's a safe place so people don't have to be in an ally or in the street. They can come in, we can try to connect them to services," said Brad Meuli, President and CEO of the Denver Rescue Mission.
The Lawrence Community Center is due to open next fall.
