A Colder Week With Chances For Snow

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) - Get ready for a big cool down in Colorado! After hitting a high of 52 in Denver on Monday, a cold front swept through and will knock our highs dramatically for Tuesday.

Tuesday, highs will tumble to the upper 20s! Skies will stay cloudy in Denver, with a few flurries here and there possible. Heavy snow expected in the high country with Winter Weather Advisories in place through 6:00 pm Tuesday. Most of the snow stays north of I-70, with 5 to 10 inches possible in many areas. Lower elevations in Moffat county could pick up 2 to 4 inches.

A steady stream of moisture through the rest of the week means big snow for the mountains. We could pick up 3 to 6 inches daily through Thursday, with a few more possible on Friday. Here in Denver, our best shot for snow comes Wednesday evening into Thursday. We could pick up a couple of inches, and a few more possibly on Thursday. A little more snow possible on Friday, with skies clearing on Saturday and temperatures starting to recover.
