Temperatures Could Top 100 By Thursday

By Lauren Whitney

DENVER (CBS4) -

Heat is the name of the game this week in Colorado! We didn't hit the triple digits here in Denver, but several other areas did. La Junta, Lamar, and Grand Junction all topped 100 degrees.

We will get a few degrees warmer on Wednesday, with temperatures knocking on the door of 100 degrees. We may actually hit 100 on Thursday.

Before that, fire danger will be very high for western Colorado. We will have Red Flag Warnings in place for northwestern Colorado on Wednesday, and a Fire Weather Watch for all of western Colorado on Thursday.

Back to the heat. Thursday will be the hottest day of the week, and the year so far. The record on Thursday is only 99° set on June 28, 1986 and is in serious jeopardy.

That heat won't last long. We'll drop to the mid 90s on Friday, and back to the 80s on Saturday.
