Big Cool Off With Flood Concerns Out West
DENVER (CBS4) - Big changes in Colorado today as a cold front drastically drops our temperatures today. Yesterday we hit 96 in Denver, today we won't make it out of the 70s! Highs in the upper 70s thanks to this front, we'll also be a bit windy through the early part of the day thanks to that front. We'll be on the cloudy side in Denver and the plains today, with possible storms late in the day. A few showers could pop up around lunch time, but overall we don't get much rain until tonight or tomorrow in Denver.
The western side of the state could be in for some very heavy rainfall. Monsoonal moisture is pumping into Colorado, raising flash flooding concerns in many areas. From the southwest to the Sangre de Cristos and into the central mountains, we have another round of Flash Flood Watches today. Very heavy rain possible with these slow moving storms.
Denver could get rain overnight tonight and through tomorrow. Our chances for heavy rain increase tomorrow afternoon and evening. Once again we're in the 70s and some Front Range areas may not get out of the 70s on Saturday. Still could get some storms through the weekend, although chances will go down on Sunday. By Monday, the 90s and drier conditions are back.
