Cooler Weekend With Daily Storms

By Dave Aguilera

DENVER (CBS4) - Denver topped out at 90°F early Friday afternoon, making for the 50th time this season the city's official thermometer has hit that mark.

Overnight a cold front will move through the area as an active jet stream remains in the Rocky Mountain region.

As a result the Labor Day weekend will feature some cooler temperatures and a better chance to see afternoon showers and thunderstorms around Colorado.

The highest chances will be found across Colorado's high country where temperatures above tree line could even be cold enough to support a little snow at times.

We don't anticipate a washout but make sure you have a plan to seek shelter should storms impact your outdoor plans.

Dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning will be a threat with any storms that develop.
