I-70 Reopened At Eisenhower Tunnels After Hours-Long 'Police Activity'

SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - Interstate 70 was closed Saturday afternoon for "police activity" near the Eisenhower-Johnson Tunnels. It reopened at around 5:20 p.m.

Colorado State Patrol says the incident was investigated on the westbound side of the tunnels.

CSP tells CBS4 they received a report of an "incendiary device" inside a Kia SUV. It is not clear what investigators found, if anything, or if the driver will face charges.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's bomb squad responded and deemed the area safe.

CSP says people who spoke with a person associated with the vehicle called 911.

CSP says westbound drivers used Highway 6 over Loveland Pass as an alternative.
