Grandmother Charged With Child Abuse On Infant

DENVER (CBS4)- A grandmother has been charged with child abuse after a 6-month-old baby was taken to the hospital with a brain injury.

Rebecca Laca has been charged with child abuse resulting in serious bodily injury.

The charge alleges that Laca was caring for the 6-month-old baby boy on Nov. 11 when she became upset with him and slammed him down on a bed.

According to a probable cause statement, the child suffered a frontal bilateral subdural brain bleed and retinal hemorrhaging.

Laca has been released from custody on a $50,000 bond. She is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 27 to be formally advised of the charge.
