Grand Jury To Decide If Man Should Be Charged In Fatal Crash Near Grand Lake
GRAND COUNTY, Colo. (CBS4) - A man who police believe was drunk when he was involved in a fatal crash on the Fourth of July remains in jail and the case is being sent to a grand jury.
Lucas Ackerman, 33, is accused of crashing into a family leaving the fireworks show at Grand Lake.
In court on Tuesday it was announced the case is being sent to a grand jury to determine what charges, if any, should be filed.
The family was walking along Highway 34 when they were struck. Greg Westley, 50, died. His wife Debbie was flown to a hospital along with three of their children. Their five other children weren't injured.
Ackerman remains in jail on a $40,000 bond.
