Gold Mine Casino In Black Hawk Still Seeking Buyer

BLACK HAWK, Colo. (AP) - Owners hoping to sell the shuttered Gold Mine Casino in Black Hawk are talking with bidders after a weekend auction failed to turn up a high enough price.

AJ Karas Auctioneers owner Janelle Karas said Monday that the high bid of $1.9 million was close to the owners' minimum selling price, which hasn't been publicly disclosed.

Property records show the owners paid a total of about $2.6 million a few years ago for the two properties being sold.

Karas says the owners were renovating the defunct casino in hopes of taking advantage of Amendment 50, which allowed for longer gambling hours, higher bets and more table games. She says they weren't able to finish their plans.
