Gardner Stumps For Romney In Denver

DENVER (AP) - Rep. Cory Gardner is headed to a Denver heating and air conditioning business to campaign for Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney.

The event at Hercules Industries Friday morning is planned to coincide with Friday's announcement of new monthly unemployment numbers. The unemployment rate fell to 8.1 percent from 8.3 percent in July but that was only because more people gave up looking for work.

Republicans say nagging unemployment rates will play a major role in their campaign to unseat President Barack Obama.

Gardner is appearing with Hercules owner Bill Newland. The company was in the news last month when a Denver judge granted the company a temporary reprieve from provisions of the Affordable Health Care Act over questions about violating religious freedom.

Hercules Industries Inc. is run by a Roman Catholic family who opposes contraception.
