Fourmile Canyon Residents At Risk For Flooding

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) - Boulder officials are warning residents to prepare for flooding this spring in case heavy rain falls over the area burned by the Fourmile Canyon fire.

The Daily Camera reported Wednesday that a modeling study concluded between 20 and 40 homes are risk for flooding if more than an inch of rain falls in an hour where vegetation no longer exists. Rainfall of 1.5 to 2.5 inches could threaten 55 to 75 homes and wash out the Fourmile Creek bridge.

The study says the creek could swell 5 feet past the banks and possibly wash out bridges at Logan Mill and Crisman roads.

Authorities say residents should identify emergency routes and assemble emergency kits of food, water, and rain gear and shouldn't use their cars if roads have been washed out.
