For Second Year In A Row, Denver May End October Without Snow
DENVER (CBS4) - Where's the snow you ask? The answer is it can't be too far away.
Denver's snow records go back to 1882 and the latest first snow in that time frame was November 21, 1934.
October 19 is the average first date of snow in the Mile High City.
In the Denver climate record there have been 17 years with no measurable snowfall during October including 2014, 2010, 2004, 2003, 1995, 1988, 1965, 1962, 1944, 1940, 1934, 1933, 1931, 1924, 1907, 1894 and 1886.
There have also been 17 years where only a trace of snow was recorded during the month of October.
For Denver to record it's first measurable snow of the season it must accumulate to 0.1 inches or greater at the official weather station which is Denver International Airport.
