Film On The Rocks Quickly Adds 2 More Movies To 2016 Lineup

DENVER (CBS4) - The death of musician Prince has prompted the organizers behind Film of the Rocks to add his 1980s movie "Purple Rain" to their lineup.

The popular series revealed their lineup earlier this week, and as part of that they stated their would be a surprise movie for the final date.

Now that surprise is revealed: they'll feature the hit movie "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

"Purple Rain" was also added to the lineup following Prince's death on Thursday at his Minnesota home.

Film on the Rocks is entering its 17th season at Red Rocks Amphitheatre. It includes a performance by a band before the movie. The full lineup is now as follows:

May 12: Purple Rain with a special local all-star Prince tribute

May 23: Grease Sing-A-Long with Lissie + Megan Burtt & The Cure For Love

May 30: The Big Lebowski with Anthony Ruptak and His Midnight Friends + The River Arkansas.

June 15: Citizen Kane with the Colorado Symphony Orchestra.

June 20: Ferris Bueller's Day Off with Strawberry Runners + The Baltic

July 11: The Sandlot with Brent Cowles

July 25: Labyrinth with School of Rock & a tribute to David Bowie

Aug. 23: Deadpool with The Blue Rider + Harpoontang

Sept. 6 Star Wars: The Force Awakens with
Rose Quartz
