Elitch Gardens Opens Water Park, Water World Opens Memorial Day
DENVER (CBS4) - All of Colorado's wet weather is putting a damper on Memorial Day weekend activities. Some parks and trails are closed because of all the moisture.
At Chatfield Reservoir the swim beach, the south boat ramp and some picnic areas are all closed because of flooding. Chatfield is still open to campers and boaters.
A lot of hiking trails and wildlife areas around the state are closed. That includes Waterton Canyon, some of the Boulder open space trails, and Horsetooth Mountain open space.
Water World was supposed to open this weekend but Mother Nature put a stop to that. Park officials say it's simply been too rainy and cold. They hope to open the doors Monday at 10 a.m., but it will all depend on the weather.
Elitch Gardens was able to open their water park for the season on Sunday. Memorial Day celebrations continue Sunday night with a fireworks display. The park is offering discounts for any military families.
