Domino's Offers Reward For Information On Murder Of Delivery Driver

DENVER (CBS4) - GOLDEN, Colo. (CBS4) - There's been an increase in the reward for information about the murder of a pizza delivery driver.

The coroner has identified the victim as Nathan Collin Leon, 27, of Commerce City. He worked for Domino's Pizza, who is adding $5,000 to help find his killer. The amount is added to the $2,000 already being offered by Crime Stoppers.

Leon's body was found by the Rooney Road Recycling Center on South Rooney Road in Golden, near Colfax Avenue and close to Interstate 70 and C-470.

"Mr. Leon was a pizza delivery man who disappeared from work in Denver and was then discovered deceased," Officer Carlos Montoya with Denver police said in a statement.

Leon was delivering pizzas for a Domino's Pizza store in North Denver when he disappeared. His family says he reported to work like always at 11 a.m. on Sunday, but he never returned from one of his first deliveries. A man flying a model airplane just before 6 p.m. found the body on the edge of a soccer field.

Leon was married with a 6-year-old daughter and 4-year-old twins. His family cannot believe he is gone, and they can't imagine that the motive could have been robbery.

"This family is devastated beyond belief … this family is horrified, broken," Leon's mother-in-law Bernadette Alness said.

"He wouldn't have had anything but the pizza and maybe $20 on him," Leon's sister-in-law Amber Lanes said.

The coroner hasn't released the cause of death but police said there were definite signs of foul play.

Domino's won't comment on the case but employees at Sapp Brothers Truck Stop, farther north, say detectives came and asked for surveillance video taken on Sunday. They say a customer there may have ordered a pizza that Leon was assigned to deliver.
