Disney's 'Newsies' May Leave You Winded
DENVER (CBS4) - Critic Greg Moody doesn't usually get winded just watching a show -- until now.
Disney's Newsies is one of those shows that most will walk into with not a whole lot of expectation, according to Moody. You walk out two hours later physically exhausted and walking on air.
Newsies is a high energy, nonstop, big-music Broadway musical from Disney that catches you in the first scene and carries you through the final number.
"How this cast moves and sings like this and keeps it all going all night long is way beyond me," Moody said.
"I didn't know much about the show going in, except it's based on the true story of the 1899 newsboy strike in New York City. I knew a lot more coming out, particularly the fact that I really enjoyed myself."
The great cast keeps the energy going right through the final curtain.
"There may be problems in this show, but I couldn't find them. The curtain went up and the show just plain took off," Moody said.
Newsies is now on stage at the Buell Theatre through April 9.
