Denver Reveals Victory Parade Plan For Super Bowl Champion Broncos
DENVER (CBS4)- Broncos fans, get ready for a victory celebration in downtown Denver now that Denver has won the Lombardi Trophy at Super Bowl 50.
A parade will begin at noon near Union Station at 17th and Wynkoop on Tuesday.
"We shocked the world! What a win! The Denver Broncos' perseverance and skill showed up tonight in a big way. With a sea of orange at Levi Stadium and Broncos Country across the nation zeroed in to support our team, the Broncos and fans really brought this one home together," Mayor Hancock said in a statement. "And now, Denver is proud to partner with the Broncos for an epic celebration in downtown Denver on Tuesday! Let's welcome home that Lombardi trophy!"
The parade route will continue along 17th, up 17th to Broadway, down Broadway to 13th, down 13th to the City and County Building for a huge rally. There are several road closures along the parade route.
The parade features the entire Denver Broncos team and coaching staff, the family of Broncos owner Pat Bowlen, Denver Broncos Cheerleaders, Miles the Mascot and Thunder along with the Denver Broncos Stampede Drumline.
Before the parade, the entertainment begins at Civic Center Park at 10 a.m. Tuesday with musical performances by Funkiphino, 3OH!3, and Big Head Todd and the Monsters.
After the parade, the hour-long rally begins at 1 p.m. at Civic Center Park featuring the Broncos players and coaches, Gov. John Hickenlooper, Mayor Hancock and other guests.
Fans are encouraged to gather along the parade route and in Civic Center Park for the Broncos victory celebration.
Police in Denver will have extra patrols and increased security in the area during the celebration.
Civic Center Park will be closed from 11 p.m. on Monday until 5 a.m. on Tuesday. Spectators are reminded not to bring any folding chairs or seating devices. Items such as backpacks and large bags are also discouraged and they may be inspected. Alcohol and marijuana are prohibited.
Broncos fans are encouraged to arrive early and use light rail or other forms of public transportation.
