Police Search For On-The-Lam Suspected Driver In 2012 Fatal Hit & Run
DENVER (CBS4) - Police thought they'd solved the case but now the suspect in a fatal hit-and-run has apparently fled again.
The suspect, Jim Tillmon, 31, has a criminal record, including a 2004 failure to appear on drug charges; a 2007 failure to appear on drug charges -- twice; and a 2008 failure to appear on a battery charge. Somehow, when arrested in the 2008 case his $250,000 bond was lowered to $75,000 and he was able to get out of jail.
In December of 2012 a 61-year-old woman named Zewde Ali was crossing South Parker Road and had stopped in the middle. A vehicle struck and killed her and the driver fled the scene. Pieces of the vehicle and a description of a blue Buick Rendezvous helped police identify Tillmon as a suspect.
Tillmon was eventually arrested. He was not the owner of the SUV but lived in Denver and has a criminal history involving drugs and weapons and was on probation.
Ali lived across the street from where the hit-and-run occurred.
