Denver City Council Approves $695,000 Settlement Over Inmate Death
DENVER (CBS4) - The Denver City Council on Monday night approved a $695,000 settlement with the family of an inmate who committed suicide.
Shawn Vigil, 23, was behind bars on sexual assault charges in 2005. He was deaf and placed in a special unit where he hung himself.
Vigil's family filed a lawsuit saying he was never provided with a sign language interpreter and no one knew he could only read at a second grade level.
