SALIDA, Colo. (CBS4) - All evacuations in Chaffee County were lifted for the Decker Fire on Wednesday. The fire continued to burn overnight, growing to 6,667 acres with containment at 14%.
The fire, started by lightning on Sept. 8, is burning north of Salida. Officials say more smoke may be seen from the area on Wednesday.
The estimated date for full containment is Dec. 20. All evacuations were lifted for residents who were still out of their homes in Chaffee County. Bear Creek residents in Fremont County remain evacuated.
Residents in the Fawn Ridge Subdivision, Mountain Vista Estates, those living above the estates, those living east of County Road 104 and those living on County Roads 110, 111 and 11a were allowed back home at 3 p.m. Sunday.
The homeowners allowed back will remain under pre-evacuation status. The fire has destroyed a cabin and another structure.
