Victim In Deadly Crash With Stolen Pickup Identified, 1 Suspect At Remains At Large

WESTMINSTER, Colo. (CBS4) - The victim killed in a crash in Westminster Tuesday evening involving a stolen pickup has been identified and a suspect remains on the loose.

The victim has been identified as Jessica Holman, 33, of Thornton.

One suspect arrested in the crash in Westminster involving a stolen pickup has been identified as 28-year-old Patrick Engle. Police continue to search for a second suspect involved.

Holman had been with family members and was driving to buy dinner when she was struck and killed.

The crash happened on Wadsworth Boulevard near Independence Drive just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to police, the owner of a Ford F-350 pickup observed his truck being stolen from 8600 block of 86th Circle. The truck owner got in another vehicle and called police while following his stolen truck going northbound on Wadsworth.

While driving away an ATV fell off the pickup's trailer into traffic. It's not clear if the ATV caused any accidents. Police pursued the Ford, which then crossed the median on Wadsworth into oncoming traffic and collided with a Jeep traveling southbound.

"Understanding that that's very emotional for them, it's their property, but we just don't want anything bad to happen to the victim or unfortunately something like this," Cheri Spottke with Westminster Police said.

Andrew Turk took video after the truck sped by him and crossed the median striking Holman's Jeep.

"He flipped up all these rocks on us, probably going about 80 in 45," Turk said. "I realized that the lady in Jeep passed away and it was tough to hear that, for sure."

With a gun drawn a police officer ran after the other suspect who fled the scene, but the suspect was able to make it over a fence and get away. The officer returned to the crash scene and placed Engle under arrest. Engle remains in custody on numerous warrants from several different jurisdictions.

A large perimeter was set up in the area to find the other suspect who fled the scene on foot, a Hispanic male wearing a blue shirt, but the suspect wasn't found and he remained on the run Wednesday.
