Section Of Boulder Creek Closed After Crowds Fail To Practice Social Distancing
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4)- A section of Boulder Creek has been closed after too many people crowded into the water on Tuesday and didn't practice social distancing. City officials closed off an area near Eben G. Fine Park.
In the last three weeks, a total of 66 citations have been issued in regards to the creek.
Boulder has also closed all park land north of the creek path.
On Wednesday officials at Cherry Creek State Park announced Cherry Creek Reservoir's swim beach was also going to be closed for the same reason.
Chatfield Reservoir also has had issues with overcrowding on the beach there.
"The number of active (coronavirus) infections and deaths will directly flow out of the behavior of Coloradans and how well we socially distance. If what happened in Boulder Creek and Chatfield Reservoir was the norm, and that was most of us, we would have thousands or tens of thousands of deaths in the next few months," Gov. Jared Polis said in a news conference on Wednesday. "The fact is, that's not most of us."
