Colorado State Names Marty English As Defensive Coordinator
FORT COLLINS, Colo. (AP) — Colorado State head coach Mike Bobo promoted Marty English to defensive coordinator on Friday.
English takes over for Tyson Summers, who left to become head coach at Georgia Southern.
A Colorado native, English was the linebackers coach for the Rams in Bobo's first season with Colorado State. English also served as co-defensive coordinator at Colorado State from 2012-14.
English was in charge of the defense in a 28-23 loss to Nevada at the Arizona Bowl last month.
Bobo said he had "lots of very qualified people interested in this job, but we had a very qualified person on this staff who has been a coordinator in this league."
Before arriving at Colorado State, English coached at Northern Colorado and Wyoming.
