Colorado Player Named Hockey Humanitarian

Written by Brian Maass
BOULDER, Colo. (CBS4) - Brooks Dyroff, a Boulder resident now playing varsity hockey for Boston College, has been named the BNY Mellon Wealth Management Hockey Humanitarian of the Year.

The award was announced Friday at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., site of the 2011 NCAA Men's Frozen Four hockey championship.

The sophomore hockey player, who is originally from Boulder, has helped send over 40 Indonesian students to college over the last 4 years, the result of a non- profit organization, CEO 4 Teens, which Dyroff founded with a friend, Kenny Haisfield. The two grew up together in Boulder.

Dyroff's family still lives in Colorado.

The hockey humanitarian award recognizes college hockey student-athletes who give back to their communities in the true humanitarian spirit.
