Colorado Man Gets 136-Year Sentence In Bombing Attempt

LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) - A man who threatened to blow up the home of his ex-girlfriend with a pickup truck loaded with canisters of gasoline and diesel fuel has been sentenced to 136 years in prison.

A jury in April convicted William Ples Hunt, 54,  on three counts of attempted first-degree murder. The Denver Post reports that an Arapahoe County judge sentenced Hunt on Tuesday.

The July 2005 incident prompted Arapahoe County Sheriff's deputies to evacuate 20 homes in a subdivision.

Deputies say Hunt had doused himself with gasoline and abandoned a truck after being overcome by vapors from the gasoline and diesel. The truck was found about a block from the home of a woman distraught over death threats.

Hunt had been paroled by Mississippi for first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
